Challenge: A growing e-commerce brand experienced checkout failures and database deadlocks during flash sales. Their monolithic platform could not scale beyond 500 concurrent users.

Solution: ON DM decomposed the monolith into event-driven microservices with an API gateway. We implemented Redis-based session stores, read replicas for catalog queries, and a queue-based order processor to absorb traffic spikes.

Key Results:

15x increase in concurrent checkout capacity (500 → 7,500+ users)

99.97% uptime during highest-traffic event (Black Friday)

Average page load reduced from 2.1s to 180ms

Zero lost orders due to system failure
